Job Experience / Education:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of (5) years’ experience as a cutter / draper or costume technician with pattern making skills and experience in a costume shop or in a similar position in a large-scale theatrical or production show.
- Experience with taking body measurements and doing costume fittings
- Experience working with industrial sewing machines, industrial sergers and other costume workshop machinery, tools and equipment.
- Experience with theatrical costume construction; must have advanced sewing skills.
- Experience with draping, cutting, sewing and manipulating a wide variety of fabric types.
- Experience with hand sewing.
- Experience with high volume costume production.
- Experience with a wide variety of costume styles and construction techniques.
- Experience with costume alterations.
- Experience with general costume maintenance, repairs and cleaning methods.
- Experience working with lighted costumes (LED, Fiber Optics, etc.) is not required but would be an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must possess knowledge of different fabrics, materials, techniques and costume terminology
- Must be highly organized and able to function in a stressful environment.
- Must be able to produce high quality work in a limited time frame.
- Must possess excellent problem solving and time management skills.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and adapt to changes quickly.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with others and develop positive interpersonal relationships with coworkers.
- Must work well in a team environment.
- Must possess strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
- Must practice and conform to safe working procedures
- Ability to drive as required. Must have a valid Nevada Driver’s License and be able to drive your own vehicle or a company vehicle.
- Must have the ability to work with individuals from different cultures and backgrounds.
- Knowledge of OSHA health and safety protocols is required.
- Must have a current OSHA 10 General Industry Safety Card.
Machines, Tools and Equipment utilized
Specialized Theatre Equipment, Sewing Machines, Sergers, Irons, Garment Steamer, Hot Plate, Washing Machines, Dryers, Electric and Foot Press Grommet Setter, Scissors and Hand tools; other specific tools and equipment as needed per the requirements of the department and the show.
