Job Description

Supervises, manages and leads the Wynn/Encore K-9 Team consisting of Security Officers who handle canines used for explosive, Bed Bug and firearms detection.

•Identify, select, cross train and certify those Security Officers who will be K-9 Handlers in both BB, explosive detection and firearms detection. This will involve working closely with H/R to identify those current employees or external applicants who bring a skill set to the unit and can operate in a team environment.
•Ability to prioritize goals. Goals will focus on team building, establishing best practices through training and policy. Infusing strong leadership principles.
•Identifying 24/7 coverage through a 5/8 or 4/10 schedule that best suits the operational needs of the company.
•Identify the best schedule for feeding the canines.
•Identify protocols for retiring existing canines and memorialize this in policy.
•Responsible for all K-9 Handlers policy, protocol and administrative functions of the K-9 Unit.
•Coordinate all training, both new and maintenance within the K9 unit.

•In this role, you will manage all administrative and operational functions associated with the Canine (K9) program.
•Scheduling for all disciplines of K9 teams working within the unit.
•Ensure the Canine (K9) program complies with all applicable regulations and certifications associated with detection, including a yearly certification through the (CNCA) California Narcotics Canine Association.
•Ensure the continued health and safety of all dogs within the unit.
•Confirm that all policies and procedures pertaining to the K9 unit are current and of best practice for the Wynn Las Vegas LLC.
•In addition, support and advocate for the strategies, objectives, and mission of the Wynn Las Vegas, LLC.

Job Requirements

•3-5 years of demonstrated experience training and developing a specialized technical team within standard detection.
•Demonstrate partnering, coaching, and mentoring skills.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels of an organization.
•3-5 years of animal care experience.
• Current certification as a Detection Dog Handler through CNCA or similar professional association.
•Have been tasked with the health and care of multiple working dogs in a licensed commercial kennel, including documentation and record maintenance.
•Demonstrated work history as a certified Detection Dog handler for law enforcement, government, security, or military organization.
•Certification as a trainer for Detection Dog Handling.
•Valid Nevada’s Driver’s License or able to obtain one within 30 days.
•Ability to meet the outlined physical demands and environmental working conditions of the position.
•Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
•3-5 years of experience as a Detection Dog Handler through CNCA or similar professional association.
•3-5 years of experience with health and care of multiple working dogs in a licensed commercial kennel, including documentation and record maintenance.
•3-5 years of demonstrated work history as a certified Detection Dog trainer for law enforcement, government, security, or military organization.
•Demonstrated strong networking skills and relationships within the working dog industry.
•Capable of designing, implementing, and sustaining, a comprehensive training plan that includes on-boarding for new Handlers and maintenance of training for current Handlers.
•Strong interpersonal skills and capable of working proactively in a segment environment of diverse stakeholders.
•Demonstrated scheduling, and project management skills.
