The Assistant Buyer/Project Assistant, Purchasing is responsible for preparing appropriate documentation for FF&E items to be purchased by the department and for working effectively on a team to complete the assigned projects on time and under budget.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enter new contacts / vendors into both the Purchasing and Accounting systems and collect necessary registration information for new vendors including W-9 form.
  • Develop and distribute bid packages under the guidance of senior members of the project team.
  • Prepare bid analysis and spreadsheets for senior members of the project team.
  • Enter and file specifications provided by the Interiors department.
  • Obtain bidding requests and retrieve/confirm vital order information such as terms, FOB, etc.
  • Produce purchase orders and change orders by the request of senior members of the project team.
  • Produce, validate and distribute check requests.
  • Accurately enter data and follow up with vendors to expedite current orders, including coordination with freight forwarders and international entities.
  • Responsible for inspecting and quality control of delivered shipments at warehouse.
  • Process submittals and maintain the submittal log.
  • Communicate information related to assigned projects to vendors and other members of the project team.
  • Maintain timely, accurate and useful project records in the online purchasing system and filing system.
  • Execute administrative tasks assigned by senior members of the project team in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Produce requested reports and project summary documents for senior staff.
  • Prepare shipping and installation documents under the guidance of senior members of the project team.
  • Assist in follow up and resolution of warranty claims or punch list completion.
  • Effectively work with Accounting and senior members of the project team to close out installed projects.
  • Effectively oversee the execution of assigned projects, including management of manufacturing, delivery, and installation of furnishings, finishes, fixtures, equipment, and services according to the standards and control procedures set forth by the WDD Vice President of Purchasing in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley and Wynn Resorts protocol.
  • Contribute to the revisions of written standards and control procedures for the WDD Purchasing Department that promote productive and effective performance of the functions expected of the Las Vegas and Macau offices.
  • Represent the Purchasing Department in project and management meetings, including effective, timely and precise communication with upper management of Wynn Resorts.
  • Identify issues with interdepartmental functionality and develop improvements with the Vice President of Purchasing.
  • Utilize knowledge and experience to identify, resolve, and rectify issues unresolved by other project team members.
  • Participate in all interviews of potential new hires and work with the Vice President of Purchasing to make decisions most conducive to the department.
  • Participate in all employee reviews and implement disciplinary actions if necessary.
  • Contribute to activities to boost team morale and the positive work environment.
  • Apply strategic management skills to plan and organize workflow and to direct, coach, train and discipline employees as necessary. The director is ultimately responsible for the successes and failures of the entire team.
  • Maintain and promote exceptional integrity and reputation of the department.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Two years of FF&E Purchasing or related experience or education required.
  • Manufacturing knowledge of FF&E construction.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including all Microsoft office programs.
  • Impeccable organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Team player that thrives in a high-pressure work environment.
  • Understand the complete flow of the purchasing process and how each function relates.
  • Reliable and familiar knowledge of the project status including budget, deliveries, and schedule.
  • Familiarity with bid lists for specified commodities based on experience and manufacturing methods.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality outside the company of all program design, sources and schedules.
  • Encourage good relationships, promote team spirit, and insure effective two way and multicultural communications among all WDD disciplines as well as the Operational team, vendor base, and service providers.


  • Previous FF&E purchasing experience preferred.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Essential duties for this position include but not limited to the following: able to work within a variety of climates.  Safely lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds on occasions as well as sit for up to 90% of the workday. Repetitive bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing and pulling will potentially be required throughout shift.  Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions.


The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  When on a project site, the noise level increases to loud.  When on a project site, team members are required to comply with all contractor-imposed safety procedures.

Due to the at-times unanticipated changes within the design and development process, nature of the design industry, team members must be able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company.  Extensive travel will be intermittent and requires the team member to have the necessary documentation to enable international travel.
