Job Description

The Encore Boston Harbor Locksmith will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of locks, keys, door hardware, and related security systems.  Locksmith will work closely with IT, Security, and other Facilities, Hotel, and Casino departments.  This includes, but is not limited to: maintaining processes, scheduling, and supporting department team members and maximizing opportunities for departmental success; maintaining all Encore Standards; and ensuring excellent guest and team member experience. 




  • Ensures all Encore Boston Harbor core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied.
  • Participates in short-and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement. Identifies key drivers of success.
  • Actively contributes to the departmental performance, and the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental policies and procedures; records and reports.
  • Verifies that all applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and controls property wide are enforced within the department.
  • Delivers and maintains a maximum level of property-wide service and satisfaction.
  • Contributes to company-wide communication and best practices.
  • Keeps informed of all new developments within the department.
  • Manages multiple priorities simultaneously and meets deadlines, often in stressful and high-pressure situations.
  • Ensures all Encore Boston Harbor core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied.
  • Cuts new, duplicates, and replaces keys as necessary.
  • Fabricates unique locks and locking devices for the purpose of meeting specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts.
  • Re-cores locks as necessary.
  • Ensures that all security devices are in adequate working condition.
  • Installs locking systems (both manual and electronic) (e.g. doors, door hardware, closures, panic hardware, changes lock combinations, security bolts, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a safe and secure facility.
  • Opens locks for team members who have lost or misplaced their keys
  • Responds to resort room safe lockouts for patrons that forgot codes and open safes according to security and other Encore procedures.
  • Diagnoses cause(s) of problems and/or failures in security systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
  • Repairs a variety of items, systems and/or components (e.g. locks, worn tumblers, shortens tumblers, springs, changes combinations, exist hardware, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe working condition.
  • Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Effectively manages internal and external guest relations, some of which will require levels of patience, tact and diplomacy. Responsible for addressing guest and team member issues as appropriate.
  • Manages multiple priorities simultaneously and meets deadlines, often in stressful and high-pressure situations.
  • Provides ongoing inspections and surveys to ensure the control of the key and locking system at the Encore Boston Harbor properties.
  • Provides lock, key, and hardware maintenance, repair, and installation of locks and hardware.
  • Maintains security key assignments, and performs periodic key audits.
  • Maintains key and hardware stock.
  • Maintains lock shop tools and equipment
  • Maintains key shop in clean and orderly condition to departmental standards.
  • Utilize Asset management “Maximo” mobile solution tablet or I-pad. To perform assigned work orders.
  • Utilize Asset management “Maximo” mobile solution tablet or I-pad, or desktop to create, plan, open, complete, close, or re-direct work orders.
  • Assist in the creation of trade specific job plans and maintenance schedules.
  • Works with safety as a priority, and follows department and company safety standards.
  • Maintains relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Age, Gaming and Certifications:

21 years of age or above

Will be required to obtain and maintain a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Bonded or Certification/Licensure Certified Registered Locksmith (CRL) by Associated Locksmiths of America preferred. Or the ability to obtain CRL within the first 6 months of employment.

5 years Locksmith experience

Current and Valid Driver’s license


Education and/or Experience: 

High School diploma or above in a related field or equivalent experience required. Minimum of 2 years of related experience preferred. Knowledge of basic hand, power, and trade specific tools, testing equipment and materials. Computer literacy, including and not limited to Microsoft office suite, required.  Use of mobile electronic applications and devices such as tablets and I-pads.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English.  Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations. Second language a plus.

Mathematical and Reasoning Ability:

Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Ability to decipher various reports and create reports upon request.

May be required to work in elevated places on ladders, lifts, catwalks, and staging inside and outside of the building. Proper precautions and procedures must be taken including the use of appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
