Job Description

The Project Manager is the primary individual responsible for the execution of the design intent from conceptual design through architectural documentation, FF&A specifications, CA coordination, and site supervision. The Project Manager is responsible for oversight and coordination of all assigned projects, WDD’s internal project teams, and external project consultant teams. As a key representative and point-of-contact for WDD’s executive team/client communication and coordination, the Project Manager will supervise all project management processes at every phase of design. The Project Manager will lead and at times guide the internal and peer consultant team members in the development and interdisciplinary coordination of all design documents and specifications to ensure the highest quality of design representation for use and coordination by the entire project team, owner/operator, and general contractor. Throughout the successive design phases, the Project Manager will provide program and technical input to ensure the buildability and feasibility of design ideas. The Project Manager will manage the day to day production on all assigned projects to meet deliverable schedules and project schedules accurately.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Coordinate with WDD’s Executive Team to develop project and deliverable schedules for all assigned projects. Schedules shall be developed with knowledge of WDD’s business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource modeling, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of client awareness.
  • Organize, attend, manage and document all project related work sessions, design charrettes, design reviews, team coordination meetings, external client coordination meetings, and design presentations, as requested; and add creative and technical input throughout the projects’ development.
  • Coordinate and communicate with Owner’s Project Manager, Client Representatives, Consultants and Contractors related to daily business operations, schedules, deliverables and project status. Provide high-touch client services; to include assessments of client needs, assessment of WDD’s Design Principal needs, oversight and expectations of standards for service and evaluation of client satisfaction.
  • Review deliverable requirements and work-in-progress on an ongoing basis and continually engage in update and status-report dialogue with WDD’s Executive Team and Design
  • Directors to ensure timely incorporation of all peer consultant information, proactive response plans for allocation of resources and delivery of commitments within agreed upon project schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate with WDD’s Executive Team and Design Directors to ensure accuracy of design intent, technical competency, and total quality assurance throughout all phases of design. Including review of all work product, presentations materials, design drawings, FF&A specifications, and renderings before scheduled review sessions and deliverable postings.
  • Assist the Design Directors with the maintenance and organization of project folders, technical drawings, specifications, project manuals, presentation materials, project finishes and materials.
  • During the CA design phase, conduct and/or support project team members with on-site reviews and inspections of work-in-progress, construction and FF&A deficiencies and quality standards established by the client and WDD. Assist with the creation of deficiency lists as required and coordinate the close-out of all action-items with the Owner’s Representative.
  • At the conclusion of all assigned projects, ensure the project team has consolidated and archived all project data. Including oversight in the creation of “For Record” design drawings, FF&A specifications binders and budgets. Assist the WDD Executive Team with gathering project information for award and marketing submissions.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Five Year Bachelors/Professional Degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture from an accredited academic institution
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of architectural experience and project management with leading design organizations, including a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in major hospitality and/or entertainment-related design projects.
  • Must have completed at least one major and significant resort hospitality project through construction administration with field and project closeout experience.

Preferred:

  • LEED Certification desirable.
  • Five Year Bachelors/Professional Degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture from an accredited academic institution
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of architectural experience and project management with leading design organizations, including a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in major hospitality and/or entertainment-related design projects.
  • Must have completed at least one major and significant resort hospitality project through construction administration with field and project closeout experience.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical drawings, specifications and other design work product.
  • Comprehensive experience and understanding of the total project process from concept to completion and have seasoned experience in working with peer consultants of world-class reputation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Exchange, and Windows.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud software, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.
  • Ability to work in a creative, collaborative, entrepreneurial, and fast paced team environment.
  • Ability to approach all tasks with proactive thinking and a comprehensive plan of action.
  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, and possess strong leadership qualities.
  • Must have an excellent personal presentation and possess the necessary skills and attributes to represent the qualitative character of WDD in all forms of communication and representation.
  • Must be an articulate communicator, be capable of directing and coordinating the work of others, and must be confident in ability to communicate and collaborate with clients and project peers both internally and externally.
  • Must be design sensitive, have finely tuned aesthetic sensibilities, and have broad design vocabulary in order to support high-profile clients, high-caliber design team, and high-end design projects with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Must be able to comprehend and review client program narratives, must understand fundamentals of space planning and adjacencies, and must be able to ensure adherence to overall program parameters as defined by client.
  • Ability to identify complex problems, review related information to develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Must be able to monitor/assess time management practices and performance of one’s own time and the time of others by making improvements or other corrective actions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide with accuracy necessary to understand and coordinate complex technical documents and specifications as part of the design, documentation, and construction process.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Essential duties for this position include but not limited to the following: able to work within a variety of climates.  Safely lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds on occasions as well as sit for up to 90% of the workday. Repetitive bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing and pulling will potentially be required throughout shift.  Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  When on a project site, the noise level increases to loud.  When on a project site, team members are required to comply with all contractor-imposed safety procedures.

Due to the at-times unanticipated changes within the design and development process, nature of the design industry, Team members must be able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company.
