ABOUT ENCORE BOSTON HARBOR
Encore Boston Harbor is a luxury global destination gaming resort that will feature 671 hotel rooms with sweeping views of the Boston skyline and Boston Harbor, ultra-premium spa, luxury retail, high-end dining, and state-of-the-art ballroom and meeting spaces. At a total cost of $2.5 billion, it is the largest private single-phase development in the history of the Commonwealth.  Situated on the waterfront along the Mystic River and connected to Boston Harbor, Encore Boston Harbor will include a six-acre park along the water that will feature a harborwalk, an events lawn, public viewing areas, ornate floral displays and retail and dining experiences that overlook the Encore Harbor Walk.

Our Learning and Development Training Manager is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of training programs across the property, as well as the administration and reporting functions of the Learning & Development department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: leading and mentoring a team of facilitators, instructional design, new-hire orientation, delivering a broad range of learning programs (especially leadership development), training venue management and supervising the daily maintenance and administration of the company’s Learning Management System.

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Ensures the training function is a model example of Encore Boston Harbor’s core values and promises, delivering exceptional levels of internal service to our Team Members.
  • Facilitates property wide training, including new hire orientation, leadership development programs, management skills, guest service, systems and compliance sessions.
  • Leads a team of Learning & Development facilitators by providing regular observation, mentoring and feedback on training performance, as well as delivering train-the-trainer sessions as needed. Builds a motivating environment of positivity, respect, teamwork, and excellence.
  • Works with team to develop program content, training aids (i.e. case studies, simulations, games, exercises, etc.) and support materials.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of training programs through observation, knowledge and performance assessments, and provides recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Handles the administration, enrollment, attendance, and reporting of both live and online programs, within the company’s Learning Management System.
  • Works with team to schedule and setup training rooms and ensures venues are kept in excellent condition for our Team Members.
  • Consults with internal partners, conducts training needs analyses and forms appropriate training interventions.
  • Keeps informed of developments within the department and property, and makes recommendations designed to enhance success.
  • Collaborates with Wynn Resorts training partners across our property portfolio to share success stories and resources whenever possible.
  • Engages in self-directed work, crafts and maintains timetables for projects, drives deadlines and resources, and works with a high degree of creativity and personal responsibility.
  • Leads multiple priorities simultaneously and meets deadlines, often in stressful and high-pressure situations.
  • Promotes positive, fair, and ethical relations with all team members and partners, as an ambassador of the Encore brand.
  • Works with safety as a priority and follows department and company safety standards.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as needed or requested in support of the department’s goals.
  • Reports to the Director of Learning & Development.

 

Job Requirements

Age, Gaming and Certifications:

21 years of age or above.

Will be required to obtain and maintain registration, or a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Human Resources or related field required. Minimum 5 years of training/facilitation experience or hotel/casino operations experience required (or an equivalent combination of training, education, and professional experience), 3 years in a leadership role preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in training and development or talent management preferred. Significant leadership training experience required.
  • Experience working with e-Learning design software (i.e. Articulate Storyline) and Learning Management Systems preferred.
  • Well-versed in Adult Learning Theory and how to engage adult learners using a variety of activities.
  • Extensive experience with facilitating to large groups required.
  • Proficient with training needs analyses, creative instructional design, and measuring training effectiveness.
  • Deep understanding of the intricacies of guest service, preferably in a luxury hospitality environment.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, both verbal and written, with a proven ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Enthusiastic, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to balance conflicting priorities as well as meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Requires strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Able to commit to a flexible work schedule to support a 24/7 operation.
  • Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Models a professional and polished appearance as required by company guidelines.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus.  Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.

 

Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to decipher various reports and craft and maintain reports upon request.

  • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. When on the property or some back of house areas, the noise level increases to loud. Must be able to interact with internal and external guests in a professional manner.
